Skyline Medical Center Physicians Named Two of Nashville’s Top Doctors 

NASHVILLE-TN-June 17th, 2008 - Skyline Medical Center Rehab Services Medical Director Robert Serro, M.D. and Neurovascular Surgeon Robert Singer, M.D. have been named two of Nashville’s Top Doctors.

Serro and Singer join 84 other physicians in 34 specialties chosen among their peers in a survey compiled by Castle Connolly, a nationally known healthcare research company founded to help guide consumers to America's top doctors and top hospitals. Serro, and the other physicians are recognized in an special edition that appears in this month’s Nashville Lifestyles Magazine. According to the magazine, the doctors were selected after peer nomination, extensive research and careful review and screening by our doctor-directed research team.

Serro leads the Rehabilitation Center at Skyline Medical Center which is the only certified Primary Stroke Center in Tennessee.  Since his arrival two years ago, Serro has seen the rehab program expand from 22 to 31 beds.  Skyline’s patients have access to cutting-edge treatments and technologies such as carotid artery stenting, and the hospital offers both a stroke support group and the state’s first brain aneurysm support group.

This is the second year in a row Dr. Singer has been named as one of Nashville’s Top Doctors. He was among the first in the nation to use minimally invasive technologies for treating brain aneurysms, a technique he helped to pioneer.  Also, under Dr. Singer’s leadership, Skyline Medical Center was the first hospital in Tennessee to earn “Primary Stroke Center" certification” from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and established Tennessee's first Brain Aneurysm Support Group
